"The Ghost" Ieva Rubreze
[EN] Walking around Riga's Old Town and stumbling upon this ghost statue in an alcove near the Swedish Gate is a strange encounter. It looks like it's part of a public art program, but not an explanation of the piece itself. It reminds you of all the soldiers who have passed through this gate and others who have roamed the city over the centuries. Located next to the Swedish Gate, it was an interesting sculpture and surprising. This spooky Ghost sculpture by Ieva Rubeze can be found near the Swedish Gate in Riga Old Town. The sculpture is quite new. It was unveiled in 2015. The art object is created in bronze casting technique. “How many mysterious messages can an object, covered with cloth and therefore invisible, contain? The art object is a kind of monument to the "sculpture unexposed" and the traditional ghost technique - hiding under the cloth," says the artist Ieva Rubeze.
