Op 3 februari 1943 om 18.22 uur steeg vanaf het vliegveld Ridgewell in
Engeland de Short Stirling bommenwerper BF415 op voor een missie
naar Hamburg.
Op de terugweg werd het vliegtuig door kogels van een Duitse
nachtjager geraakt. De Stirling vloog brandend over Montfoort en
stortte om 23.00 uur op ongeveer 300 meter achter een boerderij aan
Blokland neer.
De Canadese piloot MacDougall en de zeven Britse bemanningsleden
kwamen bij de crash om het leven. Ze liggen naast elkaar begraven op
de Algemene Begraafplaats aan de Julianalaan in Montfoort.

On February 3, 1943 at 18.22 hours the Short Stirling bomber BF415 took off from Ridgewell airfield in
England, the Short Stirling bomber BF415 took off for a mission
to Hamburg.
On the way back the plane was hit by bullets from a German night fighter.

The Canadian pilot MacDougall and the seven British crew members
died in the crash. They are buried side by side on
General Cemetery at the Julianalaan in Montfoort.
