FR Le couvent des Dominicaine de Sainte Catherine de Sienne a été fondé à Saint Maximin en 1645.
Les soeurs l'ont occupées jusqu'à la révolution française.
En 1791, elles durent choisir entre vie commune et vie privée.
Le couvent, devenu bien national, fut partagé entre divers propriétaires.
Il subsiste encore un vaste four à pain dans une partie des locux, probablement les cuisines, qui donnent sur la rue de l'Agriculture (anciennement rue des Religieuses).
Au croisement des rues de l'Agriculture et de Strasbourg se trouve une belle fenêtre d'angle à meneaux datant de la Renaissance.

La photo ancienne représente l'entrée du couvent avec 3 religieuses assises près de la porte, sur la place Molière.
Sur la photos récente, les religieuses ont quittée l'endroit.
EN The Dominican convent of Saint Catherine of Siena was founded in Saint Maximin in 1645.
The sisters occupied it until the French revolution.
In 1791, they had to choose between life together and private life.
The convent, which became national property, was divided between various owners.
There is still a large bread oven in part of the premises, probably the kitchens, which overlook the rue de l'Agriculture (formerly rue des Religieuses).
At the intersection of the streets of Agriculture and Strasbourg is a beautiful mullioned corner window dating from the Renaissance.

In the recent photos, the nuns have left the place.
