NL Van bron

ENG From source
Between 1953 and 1967 Willem Marinus Dudok designed no fewer than 112 filling stations for the oil company Esso. What they all had in common was the wing-shaped concrete roof. There were a lot of differences between the gas stations for the rest. One of the first designs was in Vinkeveen. It was also the first gas station in the Netherlands that was open 24 hours a day.

In 1994 it was announced that this last Dudok station would be demolished after 40 years of service. Fortunately, Autotron in Rosmalen contacted Esso, the owner, to take it over and then transfer it to their premises. In January 1995 everything was ready and the 12-metre long, 7-metre wide and 108-tonne building was loaded. The special transport was hampered by snow showers and could not really leave until the next day. In 2004 it went back on the road, this time to the sites of Toyota dealer Louwman & Parqui in Raamsdonkveer. Here it is now shining in the original Esso colours.
