Del Rey Oaks, population 1,650, is a small community in Canyon del Rey on the Monterey Peninsula.
The flag of Del Rey Oaks follows the most common pattern for US-American flags: a plain sheet (usually blue or white) with a seal or coat of arms in the center. Almost half of all US states and many local communities have adopted this “seal on bed sheet” pattern.
The seal of Del Rey Oaks consists of an oak tree, surrounded by the words DEL REY OAKS CALIFORNIA. The tree is held in natural colors on a turquoise background. The letters are dark blue. The same colors are used for two vertical dark blue and turquoise stripes at the top and bottom of the flag. The height of each stripe is 1/10 of the flag’s height.
The flag is located in front of the old town hall in Del Rey Park. There is another flag in front of the new town hall up for grabs for anyone who wants to earn a batch in this waymark category.
