Miss Potter is the biography of the early years of Beatrix Potter in Victorian London. Up to the point where she meets William Heelis, her future husband. She may have visited Lorton Vale, whilst on holiday with her parents, but according to her biographers, not once she had left home, as the film suggests.
Mellbreak is the fell (hill) to the left of picture, with Carling Knott opposite. Loweswater the lake below.
The film crew would need vehicle access and there is both a farm track and an unmetalled track leading to this scene location. Both routes are public access, one a bridleway. Through very careful framing, the camera man omitted the house Miresyke.
The farm track leading to Miresyke has a newly laid tarmac drive. Probably put there by the film company to aid them.
