This pillar is situated around a mile north-east of the town of Brechin just north of the farm of East Pitforthie at 87 metres above sea level. It lies on arable land on the east side of an unfenced track leading to a wind turbine. It is in good condition and despite the low height, it lies on a slight rise in the ground leading to extensive views in most directions.
STEEPNESS: None.
TERRAIN: Roads and a track.
ACCESSIBILITY: Easily reached from Brechin via minor roads. The track the pillar lies next to also means that no crops can be disturbed.
NAVIGATION: A minor road, signposted for Dun, leads east from Drumachlie Loan on the north-eastern edge of the town. After passing through the farm at East Pitforthie at a couple of double bends, the road reaches an electricity sub-station on the right. The unfenced track on the left heading north to the turbine leads to the pillar after around two hundred yards. The pillar is just visible from the road.
DANGER: None.
