La station est au cœur d'une bifurcation en deux branches de la ligne 13 : la branche Asnières - Gennevilliers et la branche Saint-Denis.
La station est ouverte le 26 février 1911 lors de la création de la ligne B du Nord-Sud. Puis, le 20 janvier 1912 lors de l'ouverture de la branche vers Porte de Clichy, elle devient une station à double direction.
Son nom fait référence au lieu-dit « La Fourche » qui, en surface, désigne le carrefour en Y de l'avenue de Saint-Ouen et de l'avenue de Clichy. À cet endroit, les deux branches de la ligne 13 se séparent.
En 2019, la station a vu passer 2,5M de voyageurs.
The station is at the heart of a bifurcation into two branches of line 13: the Asnières - Gennevilliers branch and the Saint-Denis branch.
The station was opened on February 26, 1911 when the North-South line B was created. Then, on January 20, 1912 when the branch to Porte de Clichy opened, it became a two-way station.
Its name refers to the place called “La Fourche” which, on the surface, designates the Y-shaped intersection of Avenue de Saint-Ouen and Avenue de Clichy. At this point, the two branches of line 13 separate.
In 2019, the station saw 2.5M passengers pass through.
