This coat of arms is located at the Basilica of Saint Michael the Archangel on Saint Mary Street in Loretto, Pennsylvania. The coat of arms is on the sign for the church near the road. The coat of arms is made up of a combination of the coat of arms of the Diocese of Altoon-Johnstown, where the Basilica is located, and the coat of arms of Pope Saint John Paul II, who designated the church as a basilica. It also includes an ombrellino above it, which is a symbol of a basilica. Below the coat of arms is the motto, "Household of God."
The original church at this location was founded by Fr. Demetrius Gallitzin in 1799. The current church building was consecrated in 1901. It was designated as a Minor Basilica by Pope Saint John Paul II on September 9, 1996.
