Die Zeche Zollverein in Essen war von 1851 bis 1986 eines der größten Steinkohlebergwerke im Ruhrgebiet. Nach ihrer Schließung wurde das Gelände zu einem Industriedenkmal und Kulturzentrum umgebaut und für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. 2001 wurde es zum UNESCO-Welterbe erklärt.

Am Parkplatz "C" steht eine große Übersichtskarte, die das gesamte Zechengelände zeigt. Alle wichtigen Gebäude, Sehenswürdigkeiten und Services wie Restaurants und Toiletten sind darin verzeichnet. Der Standort der Karte ist ebenfalls mit einer grünen Markierung eingezeichnet. Besuchern wird so eine Orientierung in dem weitläufigen und unübersichtlichen Gelände ermöglicht.
The Zeche Zollverein in Essen was one of the largest hard coal mines in the Ruhr area from 1851 to 1986. After its closure, the site was converted into an industrial monument and cultural center and opened to the public. In 2001 it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

At the car park "C" there is a large overview map showing the entire colliery site. All important buildings, sights and services such as restaurants and toilets are listed in it. The location of the map is also marked with a green marker. This enables visitors to orientate themselves in the extensive and confusing area.
