The adult sized angel is located at the Bebbington grave.

The figure of an angel is carved from stone and mounted on a plinth kneeling in front of a stone cross. The figure has is bare footed and is wearing a sleeveless flowing gown. The angel is facing the church with the head resting on the left hand. The right hand is holding a wreath of flowers.

There are inscriptions on three faces of the grave marker beneath the plinth, they read as follows;

JOHN BEBBINGTON
OF CREWE,
WHO DIED JUNE 27TH 1907
AGED 71 YEARS.
A FEW MORE YEARS SHALL ROLL,
A FEW MORE SEASONS COME,
AND WE SHALL BE WITH THOSE THAT REST,
ASLEEP WITHIN THE TOMB.

ALSO CATHERINE,
BELOVED WIFE OF THE ABOVE.
WHO DIED FEBRUARY 22ND 1914,
AGED 78 YEARS.

AGED 6 WEEKS.

According to the 1901 census John Bebbington was the hotel keeper at the Earl of Crewe Hotel on Nantwich Road in Crewe.

The Church of St Mary the Virgin is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Macclesfield and the deanery of Nantwich.

The present church was built in 1827–28 to a design by George Latham. In 1884 the chancel was lengthened, and a transept was added and in 1905 further alterations were made. The building is Grade II listed.
