EN: This modern granite fountain stands half hidden under a barn on the village street in Ausserberg. It is a reminder of the first hometown meeting in Ausserberg in 1983. This day is held since then apparently about every 10 years and commemorates the emigrated Ausserbergers. Many of them or their descendants take advantage of this fest to visit their old home.
The rather angular fountain has two troughs, which stand at a right angle to each other. Behind them there is a column with a statue of a bishop on it. The meaning of the bishop is not quite clear to me, but in the Middle Ages the area was directly subject to the bishop of Sion, maybe it has something to do with that.
DE: Dieser moderne Granitbrunnen steht halb unter einem Stadel verseckt an der Dorfstrasse in Ausserberg. Er Erinnert an die erste Heimattagung in Ausserberg 1983. Dieser Tag wird seither offenbar etwa alle 10 Jahre durchgeführt und erinnert an die Ausgewanderten Ausserberger. Viele von ihnen oder ihre Nachkommen nützen dieses fest ihre alte Heimat zu besuchen.
Der ziemlich kantige Brunnen hat zwei Tröge, die in einem rechten Winkel zueinander stehen. Dahinter steht die Brunnensäule mit einer Statue eines Bischofs darauf. Die Bedeutung des Bischofs ist mir nicht ganz klar, aber im Mittelalter war die Gegend direkt dem Bischof von Sion Untertan, eventuell hat es etwas damit zu tun.
