Op het Polenplein in Driel is ook een Monument voor Generaal-Majoor Sosabowski. Generaal-Majoor Sosabowski was een Poolse bevelhebber die leiding gaf tijdens de Slag om Arnhem. Het Monument is een initiatief van de Britse veteranen die samen met de Poolse parachutisten streden tijdens Operatie Market-Garden.

"In februari 2006 werd het "Fonds" gelanceerd door de veteranen van de 1st British Airborne Devision en de Parachute Regiment Association om een ??gedenkteken op te richten voor generaal Sosabowski en zijn 1st Polish Independent parachute Brigade.
Het monument bestaat uit een bronzen plaquette met een hoofd en schouders in bas-reliëf van generaal-majoor Stanislaw Sosabowski, ontworpen en gegoten door de beroemde beeldhouwer Vivian Mallock.
Het is gemonteerd op een sokkel van Portlandsteen, om op het Poolse Plein in Driel te staan ??als blijvend bewijs van de bewondering en dankbaarheid die we koesteren voor generaal-majoor Sosabowski en voor onze dappere Poolse strijdmakkers zonder wiens moed en vechtlust , konden de restanten van de 1st British Airborne Division niet ontkomen
De Memorial werd op zaterdag 16.9.06 onthuld op het Poolse Plein in Driel en zoals het zo'n belangrijke gelegenheid betaamt, scheen de zon op de rechtvaardigen en naar schatting waren er meer dan 1000 aanwezigen.
Naast de vertegenwoordiger van de Koningin der Nederlanden waren er Ambassadeurs, Senior Serving Officers en vertegenwoordigers uit Polen, Nederland en het Verenigd Koninkrijk.
Om 15.15 uur hield Sir Brian Urquhart een korte toespraak waarin hij het doel van de Memorial uitlegde en hij nodigde Dr. Hal Sosabowski uit om deze te onthullen.
dr. Sosabowski stapte naar voren, knipte de Poolse vlag waarin het Memorial was bedekt los en trok hem weg.
Dit werd gevolgd door het leggen van kransen door de familie Sosabowski, Sir Brian Urquhart, Britse veteranen en vele anderen."

There is also a Monument to Major General Sosabowski on the Polenplein in Driel. Major General Sosabowski was a Polish commander who led the Battle of Arnhem. The Monument is an initiative of the British veterans who fought together with the Polish paratroopers during Operation Market-Garden.

"In February 2006 the “ Fund” was launched by the veterans of the 1st British Airborne Devision and the Parachute Regiment Association to erect a Memorial to General Sosabowski and his 1st Polish Independent parachute Brigade.
The Memorial consist of a bronze plaque with a bas relief head and shoulders of Major General Stanislaw Sosabowski designed and cast by the famous sculpter, Vivian Mallock.
It is mounted on a plinth of Portland stone, to stand in the Polish Square in Driel as a permanent testament of the admiration and gratitude which we hold fot Major General Sosabowski and for our gallant Polish comrades-in-arm without whose courage and fighting spirit, the remnants of the 1st Britsh Airborne Division could not have escaped
The Memorial was unveiled on Saterday 16.9.06 in the Polish Square in Driel and as befitting such an important occasion, the sun shone on the righteous and is was estimated over 1000 attended.
In addition to the representative of the Queen of the Netherlands there were Ambassadors, Senior Serving Officers and representatives from Poland, the Netherlands and the UK.
At 3.15PM Sir Brian Urquhart gave a short speech explaining the purpose of the Memorial and invited Dr Hal Sosabowski to unveil it.
Dr. Sosabowski stepped forwards, cut loose the Polish flag in which the Memorial was covered and drew it away.
This was followed by the laying ofwreaths by the Sosabowski family, Sir Brian Urquhart, Britsh veterans and many others."
