TEXT FROM THE HISTORICAL MARKER

From 1836 through the Civil War, this house was a beacon to enslaved African Americans escaping north. Here abolitionists Abigail and Elizabeth Goodwin provided funds and supplies to the runaways for their journey to Freedom.
