The Valley View Avenue Bridge was erected over the Westfield River in 1987 to replace the closed Bridge Street Bridge. It's a Bailey pony truss bridge which is 420 ft. long with a steel plate deck with a width of 11.2 feet wide. The larges span over the river is 170 feet. The bridge carries vehicular traffic originally intended for the Stratmore Paper Mill #2. Since the mill is now closed, the bridge now serves a few Russell residents that live on the east side of the Westfield River.
