Am Rand des Hennfer Ortsteils Söven befindet sich der sogenannte Brandweiher. Der Name rührt daher, dass die Feuerwehr früher aus diesem Teich im Bedarfsfall Wasser zur Brandbekämpfung entnommen hat. Bis mindestens 1935 war die Löschgruppe Söven auf das Wasser angewiesen, erst dananch wurden Wasserleitungen mit ausreichendem Wasserdruck gebaut. Seit 2003 kümmert sich der Bürgerverein Söven um den zunehmend heruntergekommenen Brandweiher. Inzwischen ist er wieder sehr gepflegt und Bestandteil einer kleinen Parkanlage mit Bänken, Picknicktisch und Blumenkästen. Mit Blick auf das Siebengebirge kann man hier eine schöne Rast einlegen.

Besonders auffälliges Element des Parks ist eine historische, handbetriebene Wasserpumpe, die restauriert worden ist. Sie besteht aus eleganten Eisenstangen und ist eher schlicht, nur im oberen Bereich befinden sich verschnörkelte Verzierungen. Griff und Auslass sind noch vorhanden, aber sie fördert kein Wasser mehr.

Direkt an der Pumpe liegt auch ein Geocache.
The so-called Brandweiher is located on the edge of the Hennfer district of Söven. The name comes from the fact that the fire brigade used to take water from this pond to fight fires. The Söven fire-fighting group was dependent on this water until at least 1935, and it was only after that that water pipes with sufficient water pressure were built. Since 2003, the Söven Citizens' Association has been taking care of the increasingly dilapidated pond. In the meantime it has been very well maintained and is part of a small park with benches, a picnic table and flower boxes. You can take a nice break here with a view of the Siebengebirge.

A particularly striking element of the park is a historic, hand-operated water pump that has been restored. It consists of elegant iron rods and is rather simple, only in the upper area there are ornate decorations. The handle and outlet are still there, but it no longer pumps water.

There is also a geocache right at the pump.
