Quite large wooden insect hotel measuring 2.5 by 2.5 meters.
It has a shed roof with slate stones and is in fine condition.
Built by the students of a local school and sponsored by local entrepreneurs.

"The Birkenfeld Tierpark Schönewald is located on the outskirts of the district town of Birkenfeld, a town with about 7500 inhabitants, which is now also a national park town.

Today, the focus of the Birkenfeld Tierpark Schönewald is mainly on the display of animals. Here families with children have the opportunity to look at native and also some exotic animals from the proximity and to get to know something. Feeding is also allowed, but only with the animal food available in the zoo at cost price.

Several hoofed animal enclosures are inhabited by fallow deer, dwarf goats and other domestic breeds, various water fowl cavort on the ponds.

Various large parrots live in barred cages, wire mesh enclosures house mainly chicken breeds and pheasant species, but also nandus and squirrel monkeys.
