The Center Point Park and Historical Museum is facing toward the main road through Center Point. The city and the Center Point Area Historical Preservation Association worked together to develop the property into a civic center where the pride in the town and in its history can be on display. Both the city and the Association have restored and/or rebuilt a rock building on the property. They have masterfully decorated the front of the park to be attractive and attention getting to passersby. One main focus has been to move and restore the old but original train depot building.Because the train service was discontinued in the 1970s, the depot is being repurposed to be the park's museum.

The sign of history is facing the main road and is next to the flag poles that are in front of a U-shaped driveway in front of the main entrance into the park area where the museum is located.

The sign has a crest at the center top that says "Center Point Area" across the top arch and "Historical Preservation Association around the bottom of the arch. Below this are three photos etched on the metal of the train depot. Below the photos, in large text is the plaque's text which reads as follows:

"CENTER POINT TRAIN DEPOT

The Center Point train depot was built in the 1920's by the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway. This depot was located on what is now Highway 27 and was on the North side of the Guadalupe River near where Hwy 480 and Hey 27 meet.

By 1875 Center Point was a thriving community and active trading center for area ranches and farms. After the arrival of the railroad, train boxcars would be filled with cattle, wool, mohair and farm produce which were shipped to cities far and wide. The depot was also important for passenger travel, bringing visitors for business and recreation.

By 1900 Center Point had an estimated population of 500. Permanent churches, a solid business community, public schools and a growing reputation as a health and recreation resort area.

Rail service was discontinued in the early 1970's.

In 2012, the depot was moved to its current location here in the Center Point Historical Park.
