It dates from the mid-12th century. In 1961 it was approved as a Historical Monument. In one of its corners, already on the outside, you can find a modern statue dedicated to Merlú, a work that was erected in 1996 by the Zamoran sculptor Antonio Pedrero Yéboles.

Temple raised next to the eastern gate of the oldest walled enclosure in the city, whose opening dates back to 1171. The three original naves were reduced to just one from 1564, when the building was badly damaged after the tower collapsed in 1559 , two large former arches support a simple coffered ceiling. The three chapels of the apse are covered with ribbed vaults from the 16th century, on top of the main chapel stands an apparent tower, freed from attached houses during the 1980s, and crowned by a replica of the Peromato weathervane (a warrior forged in 1642 protected by a late 16th century armor). The southern doorway presents archivolts decorated with octopetal flowers related to the northern doorway of San Martín de Salamanca and other simple plant matters that rest on elegantly made capitals and semi-columns that evoke the lower crypt of the Pórtico de la Gloria in Santiago de Compostela. On the southern doorway, the wall is perforated with a beautiful, elaborately carved rose window.

Towards the west another very recomposed Gothic doorway opens, with a large torn and openwork window.
