During a vacation in Tunisia we saw a lot of the best preserved Roman cities. Sufetula (or Sbeitla) is one example. The forum has three temples at the southern end and a lot of the temples is still standing. The temples are (from left to right) the temple of Juno, Jupiter and Minerva.

Sufetula was part of the Roman province Africa. The ruins contain the best preserved forum of Tunisia. The ruins lie to the north of Sbeitla. The city was growing in the second century AD and was prosperous thanks to the olive oil industry. Sufetula was the capitol of Africa from 646 to 647. In 647 the city was sacked by the Arabs and the city never recovered from this incident.
