"Farm ensemble located northeast of the main building, consisting of a farmhouse and summer house. The ensemble is beautifully situated on the western bank of the Kromme Rijn, with the front projected onto the river and the footpath on the other side of the river. On the walks on the east bank of the river and the formal avenue behind the farm, the ensemble forms a striking decorative rural element. Originally, the homestead was a tenant farm of Rhijnauwen Castle. In 1919, the farm with the castle, the land and associated buildings was transferred to the current owner, the municipality of Utrecht. The farm still has an agricultural function. The farm ensemble dates from the 18th century.
Description
The red brick FARM on a rectangular foundation is of the longhouse type and consists of one storey and a roof storey under a thatched gable roof with truncated ends. In the facade (southeast) on the ground floor four empire windows, above that two empire windows in a smaller format. Various windows and doors in the side walls, the stable windows were replaced around 1960. The rear facade was renewed in 1949. The original floor plan and layout have been preserved almost intact. At the front right (under the house) and at the back left (between the house and the back house) a cellar, the cellar at the front right receives daylight through two cellar windows in the front and side facade.
