En el 1252 se terminó la primera construcción, de madera, del Puente Santa Trinidad de Florencia. Éste uniría dos importantes palacios, uno a cada lado del río Arno.
Siete años más tarde se vendría abajo por el peso de una muchedumbre que en él observaba un espectáculo realizado en el río. Su siguiente construcción fue en piedra, pero también duró poco tirado por una crecida del río.En el siglo XVI, Cosimo I de Medici ordena construirlo una vez más, pero con un nuevo diseño. Éste será del gran artista Miguel Ángel, aunque el arquitecto que lo llevó a cabo fue Ammannati. Este diseño es el que finalmente seguiría con el puente hasta la actualidad… aunque sería reconstruido.
Pero antes de su última caída, el siguiente Cosimo, Cosimo II de Medici, le daría el último toque estético que finalmente forma lo que es el Puente Santa Trinidad. Para celebrar la boda con su esposa Magdalena, hizo construir 4 estatuas representando a cada una de las estaciones y colocarlas en el puente.
Las 4 estatuas, junto con el puente, fueron bombardeadas por el ejército alemán en 1944. Mientras se batían en retirada de Florencia, los nazis volaron por los aires todos los puentes de la ciudad a excepción del Ponte Vecchio.
Se recuperaron las estatuas, que habían perecido en el Arno. Todas… menos la cabeza de la Primavera, que por suerte apareció años más tarde. Una búsqueda que se convirtió en un auténtico fenómeno mediático. Entre otras cosas por la importancia de la primavera en Florencia, que guarda en la Galería Uffizi la histórica pintura de Botticelli.
In 1252 the first wooden construction of the Santa Trinidad Bridge in Florence was finished. This would unite two important palaces, one on each side of the Arno River.
Seven years later it would collapse under the weight of a crowd that was watching a show performed in the river. Its next construction was in stone, but it also did not last long due to a flood of the river. In the 16th century, Cosimo I de Medici ordered to build it once more, but with a new design. But before his last fall, the next Cosimo, Cosimo II de Medici, would give it the last aesthetic touch that finally forms what is the Santa Trinidad Bridge. To celebrate the wedding with his wife Magdalena, he had 4 statues built representing each of the seasons and placed on the bridge.
The 4 statues, along with the bridge, were bombed by the German army in 1944. As they retreated from Florence, the Nazis blew up all the city's bridges except for the Ponte Vecchio.
The statues, which had perished in the Arno, were recovered. All... except the head of Spring, which luckily appeared years later. A search that became a true media phenomenon. Among other things because of the importance of spring in Florence, which keeps the historic painting by Botticelli in the Uffizi Gallery.
