This building sits at the juncture of a number of important routes. Before the national highway system, it was a road maintenance shop. When the railroad arrived, it was on a spur of the Santa Fe Line and was used as a warehouse for the Fred Harvey House. When U.S. Route 66 was established, the building was a maintenance shop for the crews working on the highway. It now houses the local visitors center.
