El exterior de la pila, es de marmol rojizo, con cierre de protección de madera. Pero el interior quedaba liso, dividido en dos pilas pequeñas por un tabique en dos compartimientos, uno como depósito y otro para recoger el agua que caía de la cabeza del bautizado.
"El edificio sustituyó a otro anterior erigido en 1574 (fecha de la erección como parroquia).? La construcción del actual templo se realizó entre 1721 y 1724. La bendición de la nueva iglesia tuvo lugar en 1742.
La iglesia se halla ligeramente sobreelevada respecto de los edificios de su entorno. Su fachada forma una replaza porque se encuentra ligeramente retranqueada respecto de la alineación general de las fachadas de la calle. El acceso a la puerta se realiza mediante una escalinata que salva la mencionada sobreelevación. La puerta de la fachada es la única que existe a inicios del siglo XXI, ya que una entrada secundaria que daba acceso a la capilla del Cristo fue eliminada.
Se trata de un templo con tres naves y altares entre los contrafuertes. Tiene el crucero cubierto con cúpula y el presbiterio de cabecera recta, con un trasagrario que comunica la capilla de la comunión y la sacristía. Esta dos salas son simétricas y flanquean el presbiterio.

The exterior of the basin is made of reddish marble, with a wooden protection closure. But the interior was smooth, divided into two small basins by a partition into two compartments, one as a deposit and the other to collect the water that fell from the head of the baptized.

The church is slightly raised with respect to the surrounding buildings. Its façade forms a replacement because it is slightly set back from the general alignment of the street façades. The access to the door is made by means of a stairway that saves the mentioned elevation. The door on the façade is the only one that exists at the beginning of the 21st century, since a secondary entrance that gave access to the chapel of Christ was eliminated.
It is a temple with three naves and altars between the buttresses. It has a transept covered with a dome and a presbytery with a straight head, with a tabernacle that connects the communion chapel and the sacristy. These two rooms are symmetrical and flank the presbytery.
