The art museum is located in an old farm and has a large collection of landscape art, especially art done by painters in the Önningeby colony. In the same area there is a cultural history museum.
In the area, the Finnish landscape painter Victor Westerholm created in 1886 an artist milieu consisting of landscape painters from Sweden, Finland and Estonia. It became the starting point for the Önningeby colony, a circle of painters who found their motifs on the Aland Islands.
In addition to the many paintings on display, there is also an exhibition about the Önningeby colony.
The museum also organizes special exhibitions of contemporary art.
In the museum there is a small café and a well-stocked museum shop.
