The roof of St Benedict's church, Glastonbury, rests on elaborate angel corbels bearing shields, etc. In architecture, a corbel is a structural piece of stone, wood or metal jutting from a wall to carry a superincumbent weight, a type of bracket.
The church is mainly late medieval, with the chancel perhaps renewed in the mid 14th century and the tower perhaps mid 15th century. The roofs are doubtless repaired, but seem substantially original.
