Cette église catholique romaine est située sur le boulevard Matagami à Matagami, Québec.

La paroisse Sacré-Coeur a été probablement érigée en 1963, l'année de la fondation de la ville. Elle fait partie de la diocèse d'Amos, érigé canoniquement le 3 décembre 1938, suffragant de l'archidiocèse de Gatineau-Hull.

L’église a été construite en 1969.

Selon Wikipedia, "Matagami est une petite ville au Québec, au Canada. Il est situé au nord d'Amos, sur le lac Matagami, à l'extrémité nord de la route 109 et au début de la route de la Baie James (français: Route de la Baie James). La ville avait une population de 1 526 en 2011.

Matagami fut fondée en 1963 lors du développement de l'extraction minière. Auparavant, il n'y avait qu'un petit camp de prospection accessible par hydravion, mais, après la découverte d'un gisement important à la fin des années 1950, un établissement permanent a été établi".
