Svojsík went to England, where he visited a scout camp. He was very interested in the new methods of educating the youth, so after returning to Prague, began to translate the work of Baden Powell.
In 1912 he published the book Basics of Junák (Czech scout organization) and during the holidays he led his first scout camp near Lipnice Castle.
On June 15, 1914, he founded the independent scout association Junák.
In 1915, he started publishing the magazine Junák.
In 1918, there were 300 scouts in Prague: Nowadays there are over 73000 scouts in Czech republic.
