Behind the Walls is a powerful statement about individual responsibility in today’s complicated world. The monumental portrait, just over 24 feet tall and composed of cast resin, depicts a woman’s face, whose hands cover her eyes. This gesture—consciously shutting out that which we prefer not to see—represents the barriers that shield us from the harsh realities of contemporary life. This work, which was previously installed at Rockefeller Plaza, encourages us to confront our individual accountability and holds each of us personally responsible, cultivating both humility and compassion within.-
