In June 1980, the Cathedral Park Committee sealed a time capsule (complete with ash from Mount St. Helens) into the Wall of History in the Memorial Garden in the park. The actual location of the time capsule is a secret.

Cathedral Park, established in the 1970's, takes its name from the soaring Gothic Revival Style arches of the St. Johns Bridge overhead. In June 1980, the Cathedral Park Committee sealed a time capsule (complete with ash from Mount St. Helens) into the Wall of History in the Memorial Garden in the park. The time capsule was covered with a stone that matched the rest of the wall. Four plaques line the Wall of History: Indian Dwellings, St. Johns, Industry and St. Johns Bridge (not necessarily in that order). The time capsule will be opened in 2030. There is no plaque to indicate the location of the time capsule. The measurements for how to locate the time capsule were left with the Oregon History Center.Instructions for logging waymark: A photograph is required of you (or your GPS receiver, if you are waymarking solo) and the Wall of History. The actual location of the time capsule within the wall is a secret.
