"The Roman baths remain from the old spa resort of Caldas, located in the middle of the current town. The preserved remains, a swimming pool and the gallery that surrounds it, are only part of a thermal complex that must have been much larger and that It must have had an important medicinal purpose, as evidenced by the votive inscriptions found, some of them from important figures of ancient Tarraco.

The swimming pool, which was located in the basement of the Can Ríes spa, demolished in 1955-56, was restored by the Barcelona Provincial Council. The intervention consisted of redoing the arch that covered the pool (only the original beginning was preserved) and the arches that made up the south gallery. Likewise, the set of arcades adjacent to the square was designed, in order to give it a monumental look.

The pool is made with opus signinum, that is, with the work of broken pieces of stone and clay mixed with lime. The measurements are 13.5 x 6.9 m. The bottom, which is accessed by five steps plastered with a layer of mortar, is covered with clay slabs.

In Roman times, the town of Caldas was a spa resort, founded on the hot water springs that gush out, around which an urban center of considerable importance in the early Empire developed, as demonstrated by the recovered inscriptions."
