Queen Victoria had a number of palaces and residences in England and Scotland, but Osborne House on the Isle of Wight in England was her family home. Although some official functions did happen at the house, it was largely used as a private family home.

It was designed by her husband Prince Albert after they were married.

They were both born in the same year and married when they were 21 and because of their time spent in Osborne House they had close connections with the Isle of Wight, especially East Cowes.

The bench is in Victoria Recreation Ground which was named after her on the occasion of her 50th anniversary of becoming Queen.
