“O Boteiro é o personaxe máis importante e representativo do noso Entroido.
O Boteiro danza sen parar, e abre paso ao Folión, marcándolle a ruta que debe seguir polas rúas do pobo.
O seu aspecto (de gran colorido e vistosidade), a súa enorme pantalla, os seus brincos e piruetas, etc fan que esta figura non pase desapercibida, convirtíndose no protagonista indiscutible do noso Entroido.
O Boteiro leva unha máscara tallada en madeira e unha pantalla de alambre e cartón forrada de tiras de papel de cores (pode chegar a pesar uns 7 quilos). o traxe conta cun cinto forrado con esquilas que, co seu ruído marcan a chegada dos boteiros. A camisa está elaborada con tiras de tela de diferentes cores fruncidas e cosidas a man. Ademais, o Boteiro leva nunha das súas mans un largo pau ou estaca de madeira chamado “monca”.
A elaboración do traxe e máscara do Boteiro é completamente artesanal, polo que se requiren varios meses para realizalo.”
