The green colored fencing along the front of the cemetery blends well with the professionally cared for yard and grounds of this cemetery. It is a pocket of calm and relative quiet amid a neighborhood of large warehouses and the major freeway that surrounds this Catholic cemetery. The metal rod benchmark is a few feet inside of the green chainlink fence. East of the entrance is a power pole. Count four full sections of fence (from fence pole to fence pole is one section) from this power pole going toward the entrance and you should see the gray metal lid of the benchmark.
The hinge of the benchmark has been damaged but the lid is still there and still fits into the closure. Open the lid and along the top rim of this metal collar is text along the top and text along the bottom of the collar. In the center of the container is the top knob of the rod that is the actual benchmark. The identification and other factual information about this benchmark's placement is found in the text embossed into the metal rim around the collar.
(The informational text around the top edge should reads as follows:)
VERTICAL CONTROL MARK Y 1307
UNLAWFUL TO DISTURB 1980
(The informational text around the bottom edge reads as follows:)
