A display of international flags welcomes students, faculty, and visitors to the Wes Watkins Center for International Trade Development (CITD). The plaza currently displays a US flag, Great Britian, Norway, China, Australia, and Singapore. These flags are changed out depending on groups visiting from certain countries or areas of the world being studied by students.
The mission of the Oklahoma State University Wes Watkins Center for International Trade Development (CITD) is to increase the global competitiveness of Oklahoma. As a land grant university, Oklahoma State is committed to teaching, research, and public service through extension. The CITD works to fulfill this extension function in order to promote economic development in the state through export and trade advisory services and research.
Building on the legacy established when Henry Bennett stretched OSU's arms across the globe, Oklahoma Congressman Wes Watkins envisioned a center where students would be trained in the discipline of doing business with the world, opening up international markets in Asia, Africa, South America and Europe to products born and bred in Oklahoma, by Oklahomans.
The CITD also has a trade fellows program. Selected students have an opportunity to serve as Global Trade Fellows where they work on small business consulting projects, conduct economic and trade research, and engage in networking opportunities such as trade conferences.
