Eise Eisinga werd op 21 februari 1744 in Dronrijp geboren. Daar volgde hij ook de lagere school. Zoals zoveel kinderen in die tijd, moest hij thuis komen werken, in zijn geval in de wolkammerij van zijn vader. Naast het wolkammen nam hij van zijn vader de interesse voor zaken als sterrenkunde en wiskunde over. Hij was zó leergierig dat hij al op jonge leeftijd wekelijks naar Franeker liep, waar hij met Willem Wijtses, een wolverver, de wiskundeboeken van Euclides bestudeerde.Op 24-jarige leeftijd trouwde Eisinga met Pietje Jacobs, waarna hij zich in 1768 als wolkammer te Franeker vestigde. Zijn grote kennis van de wis- en sterrenkunde kwam goed van pas toen in mei 1774 onrust uitbrak naar aanleiding van de voorspelling van Eelco Alta over het einde der tijden (zie hieronder). Hij had alle kennis in huis om in zijn woonkamer een model van het zonnestelsel te bouwen. Hiermee wilde hij laten zien dat er geen reden was voor paniek. Tussen zijn allereerste idee en de uiteindelijke realisatie verstreken slechts zeven jaar.Het bronzen reliëf werd in 1928 gemaakt door Gerrit Jan Adema en ingemetseld in een monument op de Breedeplaats. In het kader van de herinrichting van de omgeving van de Martinikerk was het nodig het reliëf te verwijderen. Daarna heeft het een periode in het Planetarium gehangen. Er zijn pogingen gedaan om het reliëf te plaatsen op de leuning van de tegenover het Planetarium gelegen brug. Dat is steeds niet gelukt. Daarna is er besloten het reliëf te vervatten in een glazen achtergrond, waarop de loop van de planeten verbeeld wordt en is het tegen de leuning van de brug bij het Planetarium geplaatst. Eise Eisinga was born in Dronrijp on February 21, 1744. He also attended primary school there. He was so eager to learn that from an early age he walked to Franeker every week, where he studied Euclides' mathematics books with Willem Wijtses, a wool dyer. Only seven years passed between his very first idea and the final realization. The bronze relief was made in 1928 by Gerrit Jan Adema and bricked into a monument on the Breedeplaats. As part of the redevelopment of the area surrounding the Martini Church, it was necessary to remove the relief. It then hung in the Planetarium for a period. Attempts have been made to place the relief on the railing of the bridge opposite the Planetarium. That has always not worked. It was then decided to encase the relief in a glass background on which the course of the planets is depicted and it was placed against the railing of the bridge at the Planetarium.
