General description:
Villa Volta is a madhouse in the theme of the Bokkenrijders legend. The attraction is themed as the stately mansion. Inside the attraction, visitors experience the illusion of an enchanted living room, in which visitors seem to go over the top with couches and all.

The attraction is part of Efteling, a fantasy-themed amusement park. The attractions reflect elements from ancient myths and legends, fairy tales, fables, and folklore.

The park was opened on May 31, 1952 and it is the largest theme park in the Netherlands and one of the oldest theme parks in the world. It is twice as large as the original Disneyland park in the United States and predates it by three years.

!! Spoiler description about the attraction !!
The main attraction consists of a large room decorated as a chic living room with ornamented cupboards and many paintings on the wall. Ceiling and walls have many ornaments that are meant to give the impression of stucco; they are reminiscent of the style of British architect Robert Adam. Two rows of oak benches face each other directly. The benches are placed at a slightly oblique angle and have hip bars. Visitors can take a seat and, after being alerted by a staff member to the lowering of the brackets, doors close on both sides of the room. You feel the floor platform detaching from the room and at that moment the music starts. In your stomach, you feel a slight tingle, but nothing in the room seems to move. The space rocks quietly at first, but suddenly sofas and walls seem to detach from each other. As the ride progresses, the movement becomes increasingly violent, until reaching a climax with strings and epic choral singing. As the room turns over, two ghostly apparitions of Hugo can be seen in the floor. Immediately after reaching a second climax, the benches turn back to the starting position, the doors on the opposite side open and one can exit the villa again via a small hallway.
