En reconocimiento a los 70 años de la fundación del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), el gobernador Fernando Ortega Bernés y el director general del organismo nacional, José Antonio González Anaya, inauguraron la glorieta del IMSS, en cuyo centro fue colocada la escultura de bronce “El Pescador”.
Ubicada en el área Ah-Kim-Pech, en la confluencia de las avenidas Fundadores y María Lavalle Urbina, el nuevo espacio brinda una imagen urbana renovada de la ciudad, y conjuntamente con la prolongación de la avenida Francisco I. Madero, de seis carriles, que se construye en las inmediaciones, ofrecerá una mejor movilidad y conexión vial desde el malecón hasta la zona del aeropuerto internacional.
En el evento, el gobernador del Estado, reconoció en el director general del IMSS a un servidor público de amplia trayectoria y compromiso con la encomienda que le otorgó el presidente Enrique Peña Nieto, para transformar a una de las instituciones más nobles, importantes y trascedentes de México, como es el Seguro Social.
Dijo que el IMSS es una institución que ha realizado enormes aportes al país en materia de atención a la salud, pero que hoy enfrenta desafíos financieros y estructurales inmensos que demandan de una gobernanza inteligente, sensible, transformadora y radicalmente distinta.
Referente a la glorieta inaugurada, el mandatario estatal indicó que la obra forma parte de los trabajos que se han emprendido para darle este mismo año una nueva imagen a la ciudad de San Francisco de Campeche, y que le permitirá proyectarse con decoro y dignidad hacia el futuro con más amplias y funcionales vialidades.
Por su parte, González Anaya, agradeció el reconocimiento que Campeche le otorga al IMSS como el gran baluarte de la salud y la seguridad social en México, y comentó que tan sólo en esta entidad la institución brinda atención a medio millón de derechohabientes en doce unidades medicas familiares y hospitales; así como a 160 mil personas beneficiadas con el programa IMSS Oportunidades.
Agregó que todos los días se ofrecen hasta tres mil 500 consultas, y se realizan más de tres mil análisis clínicos y 24 intervenciones quirúrgicas.
Previamente, la alcaldesa de Campeche, Ana Martha Escalante Castillo, dijo que los cambios en la imagen urbana de la ciudad responden a los retos que se planteó el gobernador Ortega Bernés estatal para transformar y generar progreso en el municipio.

In recognition of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Governor Fernando Ortega Bernés and the Director General of the national organization, José Antonio González Anaya, inaugurated the IMSS traffic circle, in the center of which was placed the bronze sculpture “El Pescador” (The Fisherman).
Located in the Ah-Kim-Pech area, at the confluence of Fundadores and María Lavalle Urbina Avenues, the new space provides a renewed urban image of the city, and together with the six-lane extension of Francisco I. Madero Avenue, which is being built nearby, will offer better mobility and road connection from the boardwalk to the international airport area.
At the event, the State Governor recognized in the General Director of IMSS a public servant with a long trajectory and commitment to the task given to him by President Enrique Peña Nieto, to transform one of the most noble, important and transcendental institutions in Mexico, such as Social Security.
He said that IMSS is an institution that has made enormous contributions to the country in terms of health care, but that today it faces immense financial and structural challenges that demand intelligent, sensitive, transformative and radically different governance.
Referring to the inaugurated traffic circle, the state governor indicated that the work is part of the works that have been undertaken to give this year a new image to the city of San Francisco de Campeche, and that will allow it to project itself with decorum and dignity towards the future with wider and more functional roads.
For his part, Mr. González Anaya thanked Campeche for recognizing the IMSS as the great bastion of health and social security in Mexico, and commented that in this state alone the institution provides care to half a million beneficiaries in twelve family medical units and hospitals, as well as to 160 thousand people benefiting from the IMSS Oportunidades program.
She added that every day up to 3,500 consultations are offered, and more than 3,000 clinical analyses and 24 surgeries are performed.
