"The castle was built during the 16th century. Although quite modified in the 19th century in the neo-Gothic style, in its decor and openings, it presents an architecture of good quality and very harmonious proportions, including with the wing in extension built in limestone during the 18th century or at the beginning of the 19th century.
Park with garden and pond. The lordship of Argoules belonged in the 12th and 13th centuries to a family that bore its name. Then it was successively, by marriages or by inheritance, the property of the families of Cambron in the 13th and 14th centuries, Blondel in the 15th century and Benssérade in the 16th century.
It is apparently for the Benssérades that the current castle was built, which dates from the 16th century and which has retained its refined appearance of a beautiful manor house despite the significant restorations it underwent in the 19th century. In the 17th century, this castle passed through several hands before being bought, around 1700, by Jacques Godart de Beaulieu, squire.
In 1807 the land of Argoules was passed on by marriage from the Godart de Beaulieu to the Jourdain de l'Étoille who remained its owners until the beginning of the 20th century."
