This new red-brick building was construted in 2020, replacing the much older town hall that was a bit south of this location. The building also houses the Police Department. I went in and chatted with the officer on duty having noted that the "old" town hall was a waymark and asked about it; that building had been demolished only a month ago. She mentioned that almost all of the calls to police here were either medical issues or a stray / dangerous animal on the loose. That's life in small town Oklahoma right there.

Way back in the day John Dibble established a ranch near a creek here; this became a regular stopping point for soldiers and travelers on the Fort Sill Military Road and eventually grew into a town. In 1901 the Gazetteer and Business Directory of Indian Territory reported that Dibble had one hundred residents, a hotel, a grocery store, a general store, a blacksmith, a doctor, and three stockmen. The town actually lost its Post Office in 1926 and regained it in 1953. The primary economic activities here are ranching and oil. With school consolidation Dibble now serves much of the surrounding area and there are generally more students enrolled in school here than there are residents of the town.
