Located on Hollywood Blvd, near McDougall Place, the Christie was one of the first luxury hotels built in Hollywood in the 1920's. However, the 1929 stock market crash affected the owners, and the hotel was sold in the 1930's. It operated as the Drake Hotel and finally as the Hollywood Inn.

in 1974 the building was sold to the controversial Church of Scientology, under whose auspices it operates today.

Marker text reads:

"Built in 1922, the Christie Hotel was the first of Hollywood's luxury hotels. It offered a stylish innovation, private baths, a first in the community. The Georgian-styled architecture is not common to this area. Arthur B. Kelley was the architect. It was owned by Al and Charles Christie, two of early Hollywood's most powerful movie moguls. They were the first to open a studio in Hollywood, Nestor Studios."
