A estátua será apresentada em 19 de julho, dia em que a Assembleia Legislativa da Madeira (ALM) assinala os 45 anos da sua instalação, “numa cerimónia presidida pelo Senhor Presidente da República, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa”, indica.

Acrescenta que “a ameaça, muitas vezes fatal, alterou o modo de vida, sobretudo no campo dos afetos em que o abraço personifica nas relações humanas a fraternidade com o próximo”.

“É com base no abraço que o projeto foi desenvolvido, permitido que o visitante entre na peça escultórica e sinta “segurança”, salienta, apontando o escultor que “o gesto de abraçar reforça a ideia de agradecimento”. A escultura fica completa com uma frase de um poeta madeirense, levando a “uma reflexão mais profunda sobre o trabalho incansável dos homenageados”. A escultura foi produzida em “bronze platinado” para perdurar no tempo a nobreza do gesto de gratidão a todos os profissionais de saúde. O escultor Martim Oliveira Jardim e Silva Velosa nasceu no Funchal em 1973. É licenciado em artes plásticas/escultura pelo Instituto Superior de Arte e Design da Madeira e, ao longo dos anos, tem participado em inúmeras exposições individuais e coletivas, em Portugal e no estrangeiro.

O artista tem várias esculturas públicas construídas, entre as quais os monumentos ao “Empresário da Madeira”, “ao Ano Internacional do Voluntariado” e o ” ao Clube Sport Marítimo”, uma escultura alusiva aos “20 Anos dos Cimentos Madeira”.
