"Tree garden (or arboretum) "d'n Hooidonk" is a relatively young tree garden, located on the estate of the Van den Biggelaar family.

A conscious decision was made to promote the estate under the name Bomentuin and not as an arboretum, in order to appeal to a broader audience.

In 1984, Frens & Mia van den Biggelaar from Den Dungen planted a beautiful tree in their spacious backyard. It would be the first tree for their estate. That plan only grew over the years. This grew into Landgoed d'n Hooidonk, housing the largest arboretum in the South of the Netherlands, with an area of ??7.5 hectares and a collection of more than 2,200 trees (of which 1,800 different species). This Tree Garden contains hundreds of special and rare trees that cannot be found anywhere else.

Until now, almost all investment in time, manpower and money has gone into building up the terrain and tree stock. This has led to Bomentuin d'n Hooidonk planting a unique collection, which makes it unique in the Netherlands due to its range. I There are a hundred varieties of the giant sequoia (sequoia, sequoiadendron, taxodium, metasequioa), sixty species of beech, thirty species of lilac, eighty species of oak, etc. Here, research is taking place on how new species develop in our current climate.

This garden is not a museum but this is the garden of the future!

The site is open to the public every day. The Tree Garden is easily accessible, attractively furnished (plenty of rest areas) and has a simple reception area with sanitary facilities.

We wish you a nice, useful and pleasant walk in this tree garden!!"
