"Tuscan style temple, founded in 1594 for the Franciscan Conceptionist nuns; its church, however, was not completed until 1645. It is a temple with a Latin cross plan, with three naves separated by semicircular arches supported by Tuscan columns of red jasper. Over the transept there is a dome with geometric decoration of plasterwork and pendentives, which have obvious kinship with other plasterwork groups. contemporaries of the city. The entrance to the presbytery is supported by large paired columns, of the Doric order, on which the semicircular arches that frame the dome ride. The exterior is characterized by its simplicity, including the doorway of the church. a beautiful belfry that can only be compared to that of Santa Clara, also from the 17th century. Its main altarpiece, by Pedro Roldán, from the mid-17th century, is one of the most important artistic ensembles in the city. Montilla. The high and low choirs complete the altarpiece; the latter preserves a carving of Saint Anne, with Gothic reminiscences. It also has numerous pictorial and sculptural works, such as the image of the Inmaculada, also by Pedro Roldán or that of the Dolorosa, by Duque Cornejo. Five other images of Pedro Roldán decorate the convent. The decorative elements, although classical in spirit, have baroque references."
