[FR] "A Ecueillé, l'église Notre-Dame de l'Assomption, dite "La nouvelle", possède l'originalité de ne pas être pourvue de clocher. Elle a été constuite au 19e siècle.
L’architecte Henry Dauvergne avait bien prévu un clocher, mais le chantier ayant coûté plus cher que prévu, le plan d’origine a été simplifié, et le clocher, "sacrifié"!
La première messe a été célébrée en janvier 1906. Jusqu’en 1960, les cérémonies religieuses qui se tenaient dans la nouvelle église, furent sonnées grâce au clocher de l’ancienne église. Ce n’est qu’en 1960 que fut construite une armature métallique, surmontée d’une structure de béton, le tout formant « Le Campanile ».
La vieille église, construite au 11e siècle, est aujourd'hui désaffectée. Elle dispose d'un clocher entièrement en pierre, et d'un porche latéral du 11e siècle, restauré en 2009. Elle est classée monument historique."

The first mass was celebrated in January 1906. Until 1960, religious ceremonies held in the new church were rung from the bell tower of the old church. It wasn't until 1960 that a metal frame was built, topped by a concrete structure, the whole forming “Le Campanile”.
The old church, built in the 11th century, is now disused. It features an all-stone bell tower and an 11th-century side porch, restored in 2009. It is a listed historic monument."
