"Camprodón (oficialmente y en catalán Camprodon) es un municipio de la comarca del Ripollès en la provincia de Girona, de la comunidad autónoma de Cataluña en España. Situado a 120 km de Barcelona y 75 km de Gerona, en el valle de su mismo nombre, en la confluencia de los ríos Ter y Ritort, Camprodón es uno de los municipios más extensos de la comarca, gracias a la anexión de Freixanet, Rocabruna y Beget. Cuenta con una población de 2527 habitantes (INE 2024).
La villa tiene su origen en el monasterio de San Pedro (Sant Pere) y en el mercado concedido por Ramón Berenguer III en 1118. Dentro del monasterio la iglesia parroquial de Santa María fue sustituida por el actual edificio gótico en el siglo XIV. Camprodón alcanzó el rango de en villa real y cabeza de la veguería de Camprodón hacia el año 1252, y estuvo bajo la jurisdicción del abad, pero del 1286 hasta 1301, perteneció al vizconde de Castellnou. Luis XI de Francia saqueó e incendió Camprodón en 1470 durante la guerra contra Juan II de Aragón. También fue ocupada por Francia durante la guerra franco-española (1654-1658). Y nuevamente fue tomada por los franceses (el duque de Noailles) en 1689 en las guerras de Carlos II contra Luis XIV. El duque de Villahermosa del Río recuperó la población e hizo volar el castillo deteriorado. También durante la Guerra Grande, en 1794, el general francés Dagobert, la tomó y la incendió. Camprodón sufrió también mucho durante la primera y la tercera guerras carlistas en el siglo XIX."

"Camprodón (officially and in Catalan Camprodon) is a municipality in the Ripollès region in the province of Girona, in the autonomous community of Catalonia in Spain. Located 120 km from Barcelona and 75 km from Gerona, in the same valley name, at the confluence of the Ter and Ritort rivers, Camprodón is one of the largest municipalities in the region, thanks to the annexation of Freixanet, Rocabruna and Beget It has a population of 2,527 inhabitants (INE 2024).
The town has its origins in the monastery of San Pedro (Sant Pere) and in the market granted by Ramón Berenguer III in 1118. Inside the monastery the parish church of Santa María was replaced by the current Gothic building in the 14th century. Camprodón reached the rank of royal town and head of the Camprodón veguería around the year 1252, and was under the jurisdiction of the abbot, but from 1286 to 1301, it belonged to the Viscount of Castellnou. Louis XI of France sacked and burned Camprodon in 1470 during the war against John II of Aragon. It was also occupied by France during the Franco-Spanish War (1654-1658).
