Delaware State Park - Waldo, Ohio - Shooting Ranges on Waymarking.com

This is an outdoor range owned and operated by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. In the pics you see, the range is underwater due to some recent flooding.

This range is a supervised rifle and pistol range. There is also an archery range nearby as well, which I'll include in another waymark as it's in a separate area. The rifle range is also classified as an unsupervised clay target range, but I've never seen any clay shooting going on there.

Everyone 18 and older must purchase a permit to use the range. Permits are NOT sold at the range, but are available at most places that sell fishing and hunting licenses around the state. The nearest spot to purchase a permit would be at Norton Sporting goods in Norton, about a mile west of the range. Shooters 17 and under do not need a permit, but must be accompanied by and directly monitored by an adult holding a valid Shooting Range Permit. Permits are $5 daily, or $24 yearly.

Only paper targets are allowed and shooters have to supply their own target holders, and they must be approved by the range attendant. Fully automatic firearms, and rapid fire of semi-automatic firearms are strictly prohibited.

Given the varied weather in Ohio, and obviously the fact that the area floods with some frequency, it's best to call to check if they're going to be open before heading up there. Also if you're planning to head to Norton to grab a permit, they sometimes hold odd hours, and again a phone call would be a good idea. The shooting range has posted hours of Wed - Sun 9am to 5pm, with the last shot 15 minutes before closing. It is also closed on Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day, and closed for all of January and February.
