Like most Wetherspoon's pubs, both the name and the decor reflect the history of either the building or the local area.
In this case the building has kept the same name as when it was first built as a cinema.
The round sign shows an old vintage cinema projector. Below the sign, the name of the pub is displayed on the same style of board and same style of lettering that cinemas historically used to display the name of the film that was currently being shown.
A plaque on the outside wall has details of some of the building's history.

Picture House
These licensed premises were two shops which,
together, had been a supermarket that opened in the
1960s. It was previously The Picture House. Morley's first
purpose-built cinema. The Picture House was built on the
site of the old building known as 'the Barracks'. It fisrt opened
its doors to the cinema-going public on 1 December 1913,
showing black and white silent films. The 'Talkies' arrived
in June 1931. The growing popularity of teleision
forced the cinema to close in February 1960.
These premises were refurbished by
J D Wetherspoon
and opened in December 2014.
