This fountain of red granite consists of a column with an animal on it, which spits water into a round basin. The work is called the Frog Fountain, but if you look closely, the animal is not a frog but a salamander or chameleon. The column is engraved with flutes and round geometric shapes. The fountain was donated to the municipality of Rotterdam in 1928 by Mr. J.A. Hooykaas, who designed the fountain himself. The work has a clear function for visitors to the Kralingse Bos, because the basin is mainly used by walkers, who let their dog drink water there. The Frog Fountain is located at one of the entrances to the forest, opposite the Kralingerhout flat
