A vibrant pelican mosaic located on the outside of a BBQ and picnic shelter within Caswell Reserve in Mallabula on Worimi Country. This is one in a series of Pelican (or Tilligerry) mosaics found in Tanilba Bay, Mallabula, and Lemon Tree Passage, completed in 2006 by the Port Stephens Arts Council with the support of a Regional Arts Grant.
The creation of these mosaics involved community workshops held at Tilligerry Habitat, led by Lake Macquarie artists Caroline Hale, Vicki Sienczuk, and June Longridge. Many local participants contributed, including the late Peter Greer, who took a leading role, and students from Tanilba Bay Public School. This project was also supported by the Tilligerry Tidy Towns/Sustainable Communities initiative, celebrating the region's artistic talent and its connection to the environment, represented by the beloved pelican.
